There’s very exciting news for those in the Isle of Man. You can see the wonderful Midsummer Chronophage clock on display in Douglas, there in time to see in the New Year! The spectacular clock, designed by the world-renowned inventor, philanthropist and Santon resident, Dr John C Taylor OBE, is now on display at the Isle of Man’s largest privately-owned bar and restaurant, 1886 in Regent Street, Douglas, Isle of Man. The Luxury of Time: Exhibition Extended at the Manx Museum

Manx National Heritage confirms that it has extended ‘The Luxury of Time’, an exhibition at the Manx Museum featuring some of history’s most significant British timepieces. The Luxury of Time features 30 different outstandingly beautiful timepieces from Dr Taylor’s private collection. The exhibition, which showcases the golden age of clock and watch making, is the largest exhibition of clocks and timepieces ever staged on the Isle of Man and the first dedicated to horology at the Manx Museum. Luxury of Time Exhibition at National Museum of Scotland

A special display of rare and significant historical timepieces telling the story of a golden age of innovation in British watch and clockmaking will go on show at the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh EH1 1JF, which runs to 26 January 2020. Historic Clock Exhibition Hosted at Bonhams

Two private clock collectors have collaborated to stage an outstanding exhibition of early English clocks at the prestigious venue of Bonhams, New Bond Street, London in September. The exhibition will also feature third party loans, including contributions from the Science Museum, the Clockmakers’ Company and the Collection of the 5th Lord Harris from Belmont House, amongst others. However, given that the majority of clocks are privately owned, the specimens on display are very rarely in the public eye. The Royal Academy of Engineering has opened the new Taylor Centre, a space for the Academy’s Enterprise Hub, which supports entrepreneurs, and which is named after one of Britain’s most successful engineers, Dr John C Taylor OBE.
